Chamber Orchestra of Havana

Composed of young musicians who have just graduated from the Superior Institute of Art, the Orchestra had its debut in May 2006 under the leadership of its director, Maestro Ivan del Prado. The OCH participated in the recording of the DVD Cuba (2005), of the British rock band Simply Red, and in Clásicos de Cuba (2007),

with Cesar Lopez and Habana Ensemble, CUBADISCO 2008 Grand Prize Winner, both live recordings. They recorded the music for the film music El viajero inmóvil(Thomas Piard, ICAIC 2008), composed by Juan Piñera. They have participated in events like the X International Record Fair CUBADISCO 2006, the II Composition Prize of the Casa de las Americas, the XXII Contemporary Music Festival of Havana, the III Leo Brouwer Chamber Music Festival, the Jazz Plaza Festival 2011, the Inaugural Gala of the XX International Book Fair Cuba 2011, among others.

In 2010 they recorded the CD "Music for Strings", Colibrí Productions, under the direction of Maestro Ivan del Prado, entirely composed by works of Cuban composers such as Roberto Valera, Fabio Landa, Juan Piñera, Carlos Fariñas, Guido Lopez-Gavilan and Tulio Peramo. The Chamber Orchestra of Havana has worked with internationally renowned performers such as the conductors Francesco Belli (Italy) and Thomas Gabrisch (Germany), as well as the flutist Anette Maiburg (Germany), the latter two guests were invited to participate in a concert together with the OCH and the prestigious Cuban guitarist Joaquín Clerch, which was recorded for a phonogram. The OCH has also worked with leading figures of contemporary Cuban music, such as conductors Leo Brouwer, Enrique Pérez Mesa, Zenaida Castro Romeu, Maria Elena Mendiola, Jorge Lopez-Marin, Digna Guerra, etc

Presently the Chamber Orchestra of Havana is conducted by the young director Daiana Garcia.
